Meet Kobus Reyneke
Racing Driver | Toyota GR86 Cup | Rotax Champion
Kobus Reyneke is one of Southern Africa’s most exciting young racing prospects – a fiercely determined competitor with a proven record of dominance across multiple karting and circuit-racing categories. His journey from karting prodigy to Toyota GR86 Cup front-runner showcases his discipline, race craft and relentless pursuit of performance.
A Rising Talent in Southern African Motorsport
Kobus began his racing career in Rotax Max karting where he quickly established himself as a force on the grid. Between 2022 and 2024, he achieved an extraordinary three consecutive RMC Namibia and South African titles, including two perfect-score championship seasons – winning nearly every race entered and consistently finishing on the podium.
His precision, consistency and ability to perform under pressure earned him honorary sporting colours in both 2022 and 2024, a rare achievement for drivers at his level.
In 2025, Kobus stepped up from karting to the ultra-competitive Toyota GR86 Cup, part of the National Extreme Festival. Showing immediate pace and maturity, he claimed 2nd place in his debut GR86 race at Zwartkops – a clear indication of his adaptability and natural speed in tin-top racing machinery.
Kobus now races with a focused vision: developing the skills required for a future career in GT racing, Rally-Raid and international endurance disciplines. As part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing development ecosystem, the GR86 platform gives him access to expert coaching, identical machinery and deep technical insights through industry-leading data systems like Motec.
Driven, disciplined and relentlessly competitive, Kobus is committed to building a strong motorsport future. With multiple championship titles behind him and a clear pathway ahead, he stands as one of the region’s most promising young drivers – ready to take on the 2026 season and beyond.
